What Does It Mean to YOU?
| Ciao and Sacred Sunday to you: When my niece was a little girl, she often came to visit during her school breaks. My niece was born a “fashionista” and a “girly-girly”. One of her favorite things to do was take down my jewelry box from the closet shelf and try everything on. She’d pick up a set of earrings, necklace, ring, bracelet, toe ring and hold one of the pieces in her sweet hand and gaze at it as if she found a treasure. Then as we’d begin to pack up her belongings to fly back home, she’d invariably approach me with a honeyed smile, hold up a favorite gem she discovered and sing, “Auntie, can I have this?” Of course, I always said yes. My grown-up niece now has an eight-month-old little girl, so instead of her visiting me I surprised her with a visit. As you know, living your legacy is an important theme for me. I wanted so much to gift my niece and great-niece with something of value and meaning. Something that would be a touchstone and a reminder of where our precious little girl came from and who she belonged to…was a part of. So, I gifted my great-niece and her mommy a pair of earrings that were my grandmother’s. Earrings that my grandmother brought with her from Italy. Earrings that my mother wore. Earrings that I wore. And now, earrings that Frankie, a fifth generation of loving, generous, compassionate, strong, sassy and brilliant women, will someday wear. Gifting… 🎁this freely giving of something that you, the giver, holds dear to your heart 🎁this giving away of something that is filled with great meaning to you 🎁this generous offering of something that has inherent value is a founding tenet of what it means to be a Living Legacy and a principle of Shri. Remember a few weeks ago I wrote about Shri. I’m coming back around to Shri because of the fact that in this historical time you and I are living in – the world needs more beauty, auspiciousness, generosity, kindness, compassion, joy and authenticity. These qualities I mention are qualities of the Divine Feminine. Qualities that you and I hold within. Virtues that our world and humankind greatly need more of. So, on this Sacred Sunday my contemplation for you is how will you express your divine creativity that is Shri? What does it mean to YOU to be a Living Legacy and how will YOU be an example of It?
