Time Sensitive Please Read

Ciao Amica Mia,

In the words of Charles Dickens, A TALE OF TWO CITIES, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”

Years ago, as a student of Buddhism I learned that the middle path, which I always imagined as wide as the yellow brick road, is actually more like a tightrope. In many ways we feel as though we are teetering on a very thin wire, trying to live our lives without a safety net.

While that’s true, those of us yogis with practices both on and off the mat do have the tools to create a container of fortitude and wisdom. I’ve said this before and I’ll continue to say it for as long as we, myself included, need to be reminded, we have choice. We can allow fear and pandemonium to knock us totally off center or double down our efforts. We can and must be the container of light for ourselves, our families and our communities.

One action I suggest we choose is to be aware of not indulging in the over consumption of news. Yet, at the same time, it’s important to stay updated and informed. That is definitely an example of walking the slippery tightrope I know.

I’ve mentioned this in my last Sacred Sunday so if you haven’t read it yet, please do so. This historical and unprecedented time that we’re living in is what in the yoga world we call, the Kali Yuga. Frightening as it may seem on the surface, what’s happening right now is in perfect timing.

This “epoch of incredulity” will dissolve systems that were created from years of fear-based thinking. We must stay steady and trust that “the winter of despair” leads us into a powerful awakening.  An awakening that dissolves old systems no longer serving humankind and rebuilds with more loving compassion that elevates the greater good.

I ask you to hold with me a vision for the dissolution of fear – within ourselves, our loved ones and our brothers and sisters around the globe, and especially for those in government that hold power.

I invite you to join together with me, my retreat co-leader Denise, our friend and visionary Monique Fay and our Breakaway Community as we hold the light of Love and Hope. I’m asking you to carve out time to embrace the Spring Equinox and sit with us in meditation on Thursday 9am Hawaii time, noon AZ time, 3pm EST. Find a quiet space in your home, get comfortable and prepare to sit in collective meditation.

~I recommend you turn your cell phone off.
~Light a candle to represent the radiance of loving awareness.
~Begin with reading a line of scripture or a poem that fills you with inspiration, a deep connection to your breath and presence.
~Focus on your heart center and imagine the petals of your heart chakra unfolding.
~From the center of your heart breath in and out fully. Allow your nervous system to adjust to the flow of your even rhythmic breathing.
~When you feel grounded and settled imagine rays of light radiating out – into the room, into the larger space you’re occupying, into your neighborhood – continue to extend your awareness and the light of love from your heart further and further out until you see the entire planet from above. Imagine our globe being held in the hands of Love.
~Sit for as long as you feel you are complete.

If you are working from home or at the office, perhaps you can ask for a 5 or 10-minute break. If that’s not possible set your phone for your local time zone, close your eyes, take three grounding and nourishing breaths then silently recite:

 ~May all beings be well
~May all beings know peace
~May all beings be free

Then rest in the knowing that you are a part of the collective, holding intention and spreading light and love to all.

Lastly, if you’re feeling the need for extra support please reach out to me and I’ll schedule a time slot for a complimentary session.

With so much love~~
Xoxo, Paulette
