5 Quick Questions
Ciao and Sacred Sunday to you: One of my favorite writers is the author, Sue Monk Kidd. Sue’s writing speaks to my soul, as a woman, daughter, sister, wife, mother and child of the Universe. Recently I’ve begun re-reading her seminal book, THE DANCE OF THE DISSIDENT DAUGHTER. If you haven’t read it, I urge you to pick up a copy and highlight away or download it on your kindle and read during the dark intimate hours of the night. In 2016, THE DANCE OF THE DISSIDENT DAUGHTER, celebrated its 20th anniversary. The good news/bad news – the message remains relevant today. Sure, we’ve made progress in women’s rights, but as the last few years have shown us, women and men continue to live in a patriarchal society that fears the innate power of the Divine Feminine. My friend, the truth is, we damn well haven’t come far enough. In the introduction of The Dissident Daughter, Sue Monk Kidd poses a question she heard on National Public Radio, “Once you wake up, can you wake up some more?” Whoa – right?! Stopped me in my tracks and got me thinking… Once you BREAKAWAY, can you breakaway some more? Not only hell yes, but once you breakaway there is no turning back. Well, I suppose you could attempt to ignore the seeds of awakening you’re feeling and go back to sleep. But from my experience that strategy never works. Once you BREAKAWAY, can you breakaway some more, is a rich contemplation for both women and men. From a Tantric perspective, we humans are forever breaking away from that which doesn’t serve the highest good – for ourselves and for one another. Sometimes consciously, thank goodness. And sometimes by a wing and a prayer. We continually breakaway from negative limiting thoughts and beliefs to negative toxic relationships, both personally and professionally. Why? Intrinsically each of us is called to expand personally and spiritually. One way we do that, is by breaking in. Now hold on, I can hear you, “what the heck does that mean? Break into what?” You and I break into the deepest richest corners of our psyche, heart and spirit. The places within that hold the most juice. We break into… ✅Our shadow, our light ✅Our demons, our desires ✅Our fears, our love Once you breakaway, can your breakaway some more? My answer, absolutely because we’re hard-wired to do so. In other words, breaking away is what we’re born to do. It’s our purpose. Think the ole’ “peeling away of the onion skin” metaphor. We peel away one layer at a time in order to rediscover ourselves, to rewild ourselves, to re-root ourselves in the potency that is the Divine Feminine. Frankly this doesn’t mean we trash our men or the masculine within each of us. It means we return to the exaltation and embodiment of our creative, juicy, insightful, intuitive, flowing, imaginal, fierce, loving nature to bring equanimity to head and heart. Your choice, my Love, is to resist the inevitable work on behalf of your soul. Or engage and co-participate in the process. Like me, I urge you to take that first step, and then another and then the one after that, where the sacred sand of your soul meets the ocean of recognition. I leave you today to sit with these five questions: Once you breakaway, can you breakaway some more What limiting thought(s), emotion(s), person(s) do you need to breakaway from Do you have the courage to breakaway in-order-to break in Will you risk being uncomfortable, scared even, to reclaim your unique Brilliance Are you ready to dance ecstatically in the holy power of the Divine Feminine With love and appreciation, xoxo Paulette |
